20 yrs later I finally bought a new HP calc.

I still use my 41CV......I have bought a new HP calc in the last year....I couldn't even tell you the model without looking, but I hate it, the only redeeming quality is that it has RPN.......I'm not sure why I bought one...maybe I was tired of the dinosaur and relic comments in meetings where I pulled out the trusty 41CV. I don't know. I doubt this new one will last the 20+ years my old friend the 41CV did.

I bought an HP-48G and an HP-48GX a couple of years ago.

Could never replace my 41CX (which I got in university to replace my 41C which I got in high school).

I gave my 48G to the nephew and I have stored the GX without the battery for the day when my oldest will need a pocket calculator (his 6 right now).

And in meetings and whenever needed, I still pull out the 41CX. And for those times when I don't have it with me, well I still have the i41CX on the iPhone to satisfy my computing needs.

So just make sure you put your 41CV in a safe place and remove the battery to safe keep it. And look forward for the day when you will pull it out again and turn it back on with the enviuos eyes of the people around...
HP41CX with PPC ROM, HP41 Advantage and the Circuits modules,
i41CXp in the exact same configuration on my iPhone and iPod Touch,
X-41 on the Mac (of course) and the excellent V41 from Warren on the windows side.

I am not sure if you need to remove battery any more. It was 20 years ago and especially the rechargeable battery that went leaking, so you get those green soup that destroyed the 41C. But better to be safe then sorry.

Hello,
I'm new in this forum and have just downloaded the emulator to learn the RPN input method.
After 20 Years with an old Casio calculator I'm going to buy a new one...
My first choice is a new 35s.
I'd like to get an old HP41 model but the prices are too high for me if I want to get it just for sentimental reasons because I could not afford such model 20 Years ago...
What do you trhink of the new 35s...
greetings

HP-35s of course good, but he lacks:
1) text labels like in HP-41
2) indirect addressing via any register ( have only 2 indirect registers )
3) interfaces of I/O for printing, mass sorage, communication etc.
4) big stack ( have only 4 stack regs, like old calcs from 70-80 years)
5) and many other things

Better to buy HP-50g.

Nice try ZOleg,
but I've to convince at first my loved wife :P to buy a new calculator and it's a great difference between 60,- and 150,- € for me.
I don't a new calculator real necessary because for my job as technical editor for navigation computers there's no need.
The reasons are only sentimental because when I was a student I couldn't afford a HP and my programmable Casio is lost 20 years ago in the university.
When I need to calculate somesthing more difficult than + or -, I use my PC.
