Help- 41CX reluctant to start

Postby den41cx » Sat May 30, 2015 2:28 am

My 41 has a little problem which I can't resolve at present. It will not turn on unless I press the ON toggle, the ENTER key and the back arrow key all at the same time. It takes some doing to get it started but I can't get it to do a MEMORY LOST. It has been sitting "PACKING" now for hours and still no results. When it goes I can load programs from the tape drive but if I switch it off then I have problems re-starting it. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Den.

Hello again, Success!! I do NOT recommend this process at all BUT --- I reversed the batteries in my 41CX and left it for 5 minutes. When I tried to switch on I had the same results as before. Had to press the ON toggle, the ENTER key and the back arrow and the thing would start but not do anything properly. It did a DIR of my tape drive and even import a program but then it would go to PACKING and lock up. I was really fed up and in desperation I tries to throw the thing out of the window!!! I missed (saved broken glass) and the 41 bounced off the timber surround onto the floor. When I picked it up it said "MEMORY LOST" It now works perfectly. Just like a naughty child, a good thumping brought it back to normal.
Thanks to Garth for the information. Regards,Den
