Why no new time module?

Postby cappy2112 » Wed Dec 07, 2016 5:38 am

I'm curious as to why someone hasn't tried to make a replica of the Time module.
They are very rare, and overpriced, I wouldn't expect it to be that difficult to reverse engineer, given that the CPU board has a replacement.

I suspect it's because it has to run all the time, and programmable logic would take way, way too much battery current for that. Hmmm... maybe a fleapower microcontroller could do it.

There are programmable logic devices with low enough current draw. The bigger problem is the physical size and the need for 6V operation. I have a design done, but haven't had time to check it before committing to PC board fabrication. Perhaps one day...

Hi,

I hope you'll have one ready very soon!
It's been long overdue already.
Please do it. :D
