HP 41cv with USB power bank

Dear all,
Here is my contribution to the forum.
Hope my friends do not hate me because I have modified my HP 41cv.
The point is , I bought it severely corroded by leaking batteries and had nothing to loose.
Therefore I took the risk and did soldering an USB cable directly to the board near the regular charger plugs in.
And voilĂ : I have experienced that great feeling: it is working again , and updated to modern times.
The positive: becomes independent to N cells and still pretty reversible.
The negative: the extra load of a power bank. But I think it is a small price to pay considering pros and cons.

Welcome.

We're always glad for anything that keeps these calcs working.

Note that you can buy brand-new flex-circuit replacements for your corroded one. See https://www.clonix41.org/Maintenance/IO ... _Block.htm . There's a video showing how to install the replacement, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUTAZSEn-H8 . There's a forum topic at https://hpmuseum.org/forum/thread-15742.html with updates and information on fakes.

You might also try using conductive copper tape to "re-coat" the connection.

Thanks for sharing your repair!

Can you share a link with an appropriate type of tape, I have a candidate to try this on?

Thanks.
