In my "The HP-IL Interface Specification" it is mentioned on page C-5 about class 10 Mass Storage Devices, Seek/read/write protocol using device dependent commands as defined by the HP 82161A Digital Cassette Drive.
Is this device protocol specification available somewhere?

The "Filbert" protocol used in the HP82161 and HP9114 is described in this document:

You can also find a simple implementation of a Filbert device simulation (writen in VB) in my free ILPer software for the PIL-Box:
